12 ACKLAM ROAD :: DAVE DOBBYN :: 28/11/08

There are now only 150 tickets left for this show and as Dave is playing every other night he is in Europe, we can’t book another date. So, if you aren’t going back to NZ this winter and want a taste of home from the man responsible for 7 of the most popular songs in the country (as voted in a poll 3 years ago), head over to www.sanza.co.uk and get your tickets soon! They are £16.20 including booking fee.

Dave will go on soon after 8, will play a set featuring songs from his new album, and then after a nice cup of tea and a smoke will come back to play most of the classics. We will be running as a club afterwards, with DJs booked until 2.30am so come prepared to make a night of it!

Doors: 7pm

WIN TICKETS TO NGATI RANANA’S CHRISTMAS CONCERT

One of the highlights of the Christmas period has to be Ngati Ranana’s concert at the Regent Hall on Oxford Street. This year it is on Saturday 29th November and as well as traditional classics and original compositions by the group themselves, it features performances from friends such as Te Kohanga Reo o Ranana and Beats of Polynesia. Plus, this year, in celebration of Ngati Ranana’s 50th anniversary, the concert will feature songs spanning the group’s 50 year history in London.

We have managed to wangle two pairs of tickets to give away: please email kiaora@spacific.net and tell us where Ngati Ranana meet every Wednesday. We will let you know by November 12th if you have won.

Otherwise tickets are only £5, and can be obtained by emailing xmas@ngatiranana.co.uk or calling 077 7155 3477. The concert is at Regent Hall, 275 Oxford Street, London, W1C 2DJ, and runs from 11am – 1pm. And yes, they know the All Blacks are playing – the game kicks off at 2.30pm so there is plenty of time to see the game. More info at www.ngatiranana.co.uk

WIN TICKETS TO THE ALTERNATIVE RUGBY COMMENTARY

Since 2005 the Alternative Rugby Commentary has been entertaining those who enjoy an irreverent take on the game In 2008 the people behind it are, in their words, Bringing Back the Black: for the month of November, they will be taking over The Barley Mow in Chiswick and providing their unique commentary on the All Black’s games as they happen.

Tickets are normally £5 (with a free T shirt to the first 20 in the door), but we have snaffled 2 pairs for each game. To win, please email kiaora@spacific.net and tell us which game you want to see and we will draw names from a hat on November 12th. For those who want to go this Saturday, we will give the tickets to the first people to get in touch – if you don’t hear from us, please presume you haven’t won.
