BIG CHILL BAR :: MIKKI DEE :: 05/04/06
Mikki Dee drops in on London, fresh from his world tour (well NZ and the US), to launch his latest mixtape, “I Spent A Lot On This Suit”. Featuring tracks by Jay Z, Blak Twang, Damien Marley plus freestyles from David Banner, King Kapisi and Old Grumpy Bxstard, it will be on sale for £5 on the night.
For those that haven’t had the pleasure of checking out his shows before, Mikki Dee is New Zealand’s self proclaimed ambassador to Ireland and a consummate entertainer, who is as happy rapping as he is mixing and scratching. He has supported De La Soul, Scribe, Kanye West, Roots Manuva and more.

Mr LoveFunk makes a welcome return to London in a desperate bid to avoid New Zealand’s winter. The long time DJ, promoter, producer, radio show host and all round bon viveur has been playing out in Auckland’s clubs, bars and at the best underground parties for the last 10 years, securing an unfailing reputation to rock the party, in every way possible. Along the way he has earned the respect of visiting English DJs such as Terry Francis, Dick Johnson and Tom Middleton.

ISLINGTON ACADEMY :: THE PHOENIX FOUNDATION :: 01/06/06
Wellington’s The Phoenix Foundation make their London debut en route to a showcase tour of the US.
Formed in 1997, their debut album ‘Horsepower’ on Capital Recordings was voted the ‘best New Zealand album’ of 2003 by nzmusic.com and was the only local album selected in the Listener’s ‘Top Ten Albums Of The Year’. It was followed in May last year by the sublime ‘Pegasus’ through Festival Mushroom Records, which debuted at number 10 in the national album charts, and has now acheived gold sales status.

COCKTAIL OF THE MONTH :: GREEN VALLEY
Ingredients: 35ml 42 Below, 15ml 42 Below Feijoa, ½ Kiwi Fruit, 2 slices ginger, 5ml Green apple liqueur, 5ml Monin Kiwi syrup (or gomme) and a dash of lychee liqueur
Glass: Martini
Method: Muddle Kiwi Fruit and ginger, add all ingredients shake and double strain.
