BIG CHILL BAR :: PACIFIC HEIGHTS :: 07/12/05
Pacific Heights is the solo project of Devin Abrams, frontman for Shapeshifter. He burst onto the scene with the unimaginatively named but incredibly sublime “Pacific Heights EP” back in 2002, which featured the jaw droppingly awesome track, “Lavenia”. Swiftly followed by his “Frozen Fears” album the next year, the Pacific Heights sound is all about lush string arrangements and warm, rolling basslines, combined with the sort of breakbeat experimentation one would normally associate with Blame or LTJ Bukem. Fittingly, Blame stepped up last year for the remix project “Borne Together”, which featured re-rubs of tracks from “Frozen Fears” by local and international artists.

BIG CHILL BAR :: CHRIS COX :: 04/01/06
What better way to start the New Year than with a set by one of Aotearoa’s finest DJs and producers, the imitable Chris Cox. Antipdoean Records boss, member of broken beat trio Thisinformation, Red Bull Academy alumni, former Khuja Lounge resident and all round good bloke, Chris has been playing with music ever since he was old enough to hit play on the family turntable.
