O2 EMPIRE :: THE BLACK SEEDS :: 02/10/09
Tickets are selling fast for this show, The Black Seeds’ only gig in the capital this year, with the ground floor now completely sold out, and the first level going swiftly too.
The Seeds have blazed a trail round the world with their fusion of dub, funk, afro-beat and soul, all served on a bed of vintage reggae. Last year’s “Solid Ground” album received airplay all across Europe and as hinted in last month’s mailout has been signed for North America by Easy Star Records, home to the jahlicious Easy Dub All Stars, who were responsible for “Dub Side of the Moon” and “Radiodread”.
Supporting them on the night are new kids on the block, Electric Wire Hustle, with their unique twist on modern hip-hop, psychedelic and soul. DJ duties will be handled by the Radio Riddler Soundsystem, aka Fast and Frank from Fun Lovin’ Criminals.
Advance tickets are £14 + b/f from Ticketweb (08700 600 100 or http://tinyurl.com/blackseeds) or it will be £20 on the door.
From: 7pm til 11pm
At: Shepherd’s Bush Green, W12
Nearest tube: Shepherd’s Bush or Goldhawk Rd

CENTRE FOR NEW ZEALAND STUDIES PETITION
As some of you may know, a Centre for New Zealand Studies was set up at Birkbeck University in London with funding from the NZ and UK governments. Since then the Centre has organised 114 events, 5 conferences and 3 festivals.
Unfortunately due to political infighting at the University, the Centre has been told it will be closed in November. If you feel at all strongly about this, please sign the online petition at www.lobbyingforum.com/petition-detail.aspx?id=128.
