CARGO :: PITCH BLACK :: 30/08/07
Electro dub pioneers Pitch Black are back – with both a new album and a revamped live show. Years of touring the world have toned PB’s audiovisual show into something world class, and they are taking it eastside this year to test out Cargo’s new bassbins!
Having played their inaugural show at 1997’s Gathering Festival, Pitch Black have since released 3 albums of dub drenched beats and pieces to a growing national and international fanbase. On October 27th they release the next installment, “Rude Mechanicals” featuring 9 new tracks, 5 of which you can preview at www.myspace.com/pitchblacknz. Thankfully sneaky copies will be available on this night so you don’t have to wait that long to get your hands on it!
Support on the night is from digital dub maestro International Observer, aka Tom Bailey, whose new album “Heard” hits the shelves September 10th – it contains versions of tracks featured on his NZ only album “All Played Out” plus newer creations.

BIG CHILL BAR ::JAMIE ROBERTSON :: 05/09/07
Emerging from the depths of Auckland City and now based in London, Jamie is well rehearsed in super-deep house, funk & disco routed rhythms. Alongside his brothers Dean Webb and Mark Burgess, he formed longstanding NZ club nights ‘Superfunk’ & ‘Musicpeople’ and has played alongside such greats as Derrick Carter, Joshua (IZ & DIZ), Mike Grant and Corey Black, among others. His unique mixing style and extensive music collection, influenced by the likes of Moodymann, Theo Parrish, Rahaan & Funkadelic are derived with love from Detroit and Chi-town, so look forward to a story as well as a history lesson.
From: 7pm til 12am
On: Dray Walk, just off Brick Lane, London E1 6QL

ELECTRIC BALLROOM :: SHAPESHIFTER :: 04/10/07
For various reasons, we had to hold off until now from announcing this show, but the beady eyed of you have already spotted it, and nearly half the tickets are already gone! At the moment this is the only London show these boys can do, so if you want to come, then get over to http://tinyurl.com/yvreer pretty sharpish!
In the meantime, some info: Shapeshifter are the southern hemisphere’s premier live drum and bass act, initially signed to Kog Transmissions with whom they released “Real Time” back in 2001, followed by “Riddim Wise” on their own label in 2004, both of which have now achieved gold sales status. Their last album, “Soulstice” came out last year to critical and commercial acclaim, selling over 15,000 copies in NZ and 10,000 in Oz. They are releasing a new album this September featuring live recordings made with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, which hopefully they will be bringing copies of to sell at the gig.
You can check them out, tracks and videos that is, at www.myspace.com/shapeshifterlive.
Tickets are £12.50 from Ticketweb.co.uk (08700 600 100) and doors will open at 7pm.
