THE LEXINGTON :: REB FOUNTAIN + PROTEINS OF MAGIC :: 14/05/23

We’re delighted to welcome back “New Zealand’s next alt-folk sensation” (according to MOJO), reb fountain, for a headline show at The Lexington on Sunday May 14th. Anybody who has seen her band in full flight knows the power of Reb Fountain live – the last London show was a tour-de-force that perfectly showcased the noir folk-punk sound featured on her critically acclaimed Flying Nun releases Reb Fountain and IRIS.

Reb has just released a brand new single, her first new music since 2021 – check the video for Faithless Lover at youtube.com/watch?v=HOCNsj8jlkk

We’re equally delighted that she will be supported on the night by the amazing Proteins Of Magic, who blur the boundaries between innovative alt-pop and contemporary art music, bringing into existence a world that is uniquely their own.

THE WATER RATS :: REB FOUNTAIN + BLAIR JOLLANDS :: 15/11/22

We’re delighted to announce that Blair Jollands will be joining Flying Nun artist Reb Fountain when she performs with her all-star band at The Water Rats later this month.

Having won the admiration of both David Bowie & Boy George (who released Blair’s band El Hula on his More Protein label), Blair Jollands’s music communicates a paradoxical mix of melancholia and optimism that draws the listener in. Often compared vocally to Nick Cave or Rufus Wainwright, Blair has received praise from the likes of NME, Guardian, Uncut, ArtRocker and many more. Check out his latest video for “Deep Water”

If you’e not aware of her, Reb Fountain effortlessly combines pop elements with the trademark noir folk-punk sound featured on her critically acclaimed Flying Nun releases Reb Fountain and IRIS. Check out the videos to ‘Don’t You Know Who I Am‘, ‘Lacuna’ and ‘Psyche’ on her YouTube channel.

Renowned for her spell-binding performances, ‘Reb moves across the stage and through the various stages of herself to deliver her songs, devotionals. Prowling like Patti Smith and Cat Power one- minute, Nick Cave living his best life the next with soaring vocals invoking Mazzy Starr, Tori Amos and Kate Bush, but all with a stunning originality,’ making her live show something not to be missed.

Tickets are £15 + b/f from Music Glue, See Tickets or Ticketweb.

LOOKING AHEAD / UNSUBSCRIBE

Given that the last three newsletters we've sent have all had the same header – Six60 – you might be thinking that they're the only band we now work with!

The reality is that uncertainty over the travel restrictions in and out of New Zealand led to many artists postponing their 2022 plans until next year. Thankfully this means that 2023 is looking likely to be a bumper year for New Zealand music in the UK and we hope to have news of some of the shows soon.

However, it would be an understatement to point out that a lot has changed in the past 2 years, so if you have now left Europe or are no longer interested in receiving emails about shows by New Zealand bands in London, it would really help us if you could please unsubscribe from this list by going to the unsubscribe page or replying to this email and we'll unsubscribe you manually.

BRIXTON ACADEMY :: SIX60 :: 04/12/21

Six60 have had to move their Ally Pally show due to production and travel issues, but thankfully have found a replacement date at Brixton Academy the following week.

The show will now be the last date in their world tour, which kicked off in America last month, diverts via Australia (where nearly half their shows have sold out already) and then on to Europe, beginning in Paris. The tour concludes an amazing run for the band, who have been making headlines across the globe for their joyous, sold-out shows in front of thousands of fans this year. At one point, due to restrictions outside of NZ, they were officially the “planet’s biggest touring band”, a status that earnt them features on the BBC News and ITV’s “This Morning” plus articles in the Guardian, Billboard and the NME.

If you’ve never heard of them, then head over to their YouTube channel, Facebook page or Spotify profile.

ALEXANDRA PALACE :: SIX60 :: 26/11/21

After well over a year of no gigs, it’s great to be coming back with a show in such an iconic venue.
