ST PANCRAS OLD CHURCH :: FRANK BURKITT + KARA FILBEY :: 25/07/19

Tui award winning artists Frank Burkitt and Kara Filbey are coming to the beautiful St Pancras Old Church later this month for an intimate performance of some of the finest songwriting and harmony you are likely to hear.

Winners of the Vodafone NZ Music Award for Best Folk Artist 2019 (for their Frank Burkitt Band release “Raconteur”), Frank Burkitt and Kara Filbey have been performing together for the past 15 years throughout the UK, New Zealand, Australia and North America. Residents of Wellington for the last 5 years, they are delighted to be bringing their New Zealand inspired music to London.

Two voices that have had 15 years to blend, they will both captivate and enchant. Expect a broad set of original and traditional Scottish folk songs, country ballads and Americana. Burkitts highly intelligent songwriting is what sets him apart, as well as his ability to tell great stories to accompany his songs.

Support on the night comes from Chanteuse Rosé and Greg Wain, both perhaps better known for their Exposing Edith show.

ST PANCRAS OLD CHURCH :: MODERN MAORI QUARTET :: 26/07/19

There are two sides to every story. And every story has a song.

Aotearoas favourite showband Modern Māori Quartet (MMQ) returns to London this July with a ONE NIGHT ONLY performance of their music theatre work that was five years in the making.

Two Worlds – an original Māori play with songs – brings about a timely return to MMQs theatrical beginnings with a story full of heart and revelation. With signature style and humour Two Worlds weaves together four stories that unfold the fabric of Māori musical culture and its genealogy and evolution.

Layering an earnest and uniquely Kiwi narrative to their soaring harmonies and classic quirky charm, the award-winning MMQ invite you to meet Koro, Big Bro, Uncle and Bub, and experience their take on what it really means to be Māori in this day and age.

“Out of everything Ive seen so far I would recommend The Modern Maori Quartet: Two Worlds. Great singing, dancing and humour in a clever dramatic framework, and four lovely actor/musicians.” Julia Donaldson (The Gruffalo), as interviewed in The Scotsman

Support for the night will come from London’s own expat superstar Jayson Norris

ELECTRIC BALLROOM :: THE BLACK SEEDS :: 15/08/19

They’re back ….. One of New Zealands most-loved live acts, The Black Seeds, have spent the last two decades taking the world by storm. Back home, they are revered stalwarts of the touring and festival circuit, while abroad theyve remained at the forefront of New Zealands internationally renowned roots movement, alongside the likes of Fat Freddys Drop and Katchafire.

Described by Clash Magazine as “one of the best live reggae acts on the planet,” the bands eight-piece live show infuses raw energy and good vibes wherever they go. While firmly based in the island grooves that inspired the birth of the band in 1998, The Black Seeds sound casts a wide net, laying funk, soul, Afrobeat and other eclectic elements over their dub/reggae foundation.

THE GRAND :: JORDAN LUCK BAND :: 03/10/19

Legend is a word suffering from chronic overuse syndrome these days, but when it comes to Jordan Luck, the word regains its full meaning and one the NZ public associates with this true blue Kiwi icon. This affection is obviously felt amongst his musical peers as well – they bestowed Jordan the honour of inaugural Inductee into the New Zealand Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame and in 2015 The NZ Music Legacy Award.

As front man and pop-writing genius with the legendary Exponents, he clocked up a staggering 18 Top 40 singles over the years, with Victoria recently voted by the public as the 8th greatest New Zealand song of all time. These days on any given weekend you will hear packed stadiums of sports fans singing in unison (if not in-tune) Why Does Love Do This To Me? a song that seems to have taken on the mantle as the unofficial alternative NZ national anthem.

The Jordan Luck Band is the new super deluxe Frankenstein incarnation backing the iconic kiwi singer these days. Every gig, the band play the best of all those iconic Exponents tracks we know and love as well as a collection of the bands favourite Kiwi classics. Meticulously designed by Jordan himself from the ground up, this band has just the one purpose…to bring Jordans blend of pop rock genius from the past, present and future… back to the masses!

Hand-picked from a wish-list of players Jordan wanted to work with, the word went out, his fantasy starting line up were contacted and unsurprisingly they all signed up…so, starting from the stage right part of the paddock: Bryan Bell – ex-frontman of the much loved Dead Flowers, Beaver – rocknroll royalty and drummer of the world famous D4, Rich Mixture – God of all things musical, formerly graced the stages of D4, Dead Flowers and many more, Joe Walsh – frontman of Auckland rocker’s Ekko Park.
