one of new zealand’s favourite rock band, the feelers, know how to stand up and be counted.
they are a piece of new zealand history and have provided the soundtrack to kiwis’ lives for several years, having an unprecedented 20 songs in the top 20 radio singles and three hit albums, the feelers are the most successful rock band in the country.
the feelers first release supersystem reached number one, and went on to stay in the top ten for six months and in the top fifty for over a year. it sold a massive 90,000 albums and with a string of top 10 singles became the largest selling rock record of its time. the album also sported two apra silver scroll winning songs,‘supersystem’ and ‘venus’, for the most played radio singles two years in a row.
the follow up communicate also reached number one, with double platinum sales. communicate features the band’s production dream-team with producer gil norton (the pixies, foo fighters), engineer danton supple (coldplay, the cure), mix engineer chris sheldon (radiohead, foo fighters) and mastering engineer bob ludwig (you name it he’s done it).
the third album playground battle spent almost 18 months in the top twenty on the national charts and too boasts multi-platinum sales. both ‘the fear’ and ‘stand up’ have achieved massive long-standing radio success making them the most memorable singles from 2005, with ‘stand up’ winning the 2006 apra award for most performed new zealand single.
their brand new album, one world, came out on November 13 and went straight to the top of the charts, selling 15,000 on the first day alone.
