minuit [minwee] are a live electronic female-fronted three-piece from new zealand, who's angular alternative breakbeat is fast catching on.
soon to be in the uk for their debut tour, minuit are fronted by the utterly gorgeous ruth carr. bandmates ryan beehre and paul dodge deliver their breakbeat arsenal via blistering basslines made of steel, underpinned by ruth’s beautifully written and delivered vocals.
no-one predicted how warmly minuit would be received by the public, as their debut indie album 'the 88' instantly went gold in new zealand. minuit then released their guns ep, a limited run that sold out in the first week. this won them 'best electronic release' at the alternative music awards in new zealand, on top of a nomination for 'breakthrough artist' at last years' new zealand music awards.
they released their critically acclaimed second album, 'the guards themselves' in new zealand and australia in 2006. mastered by emily lazar of prodigy fame at the lodge in new york city, it has that gravelly edge and 'sense of personality' that makes them so endearing.
their european debut is due out end of april this year and they are coming on tour to promote it, as like any live act you really need to hear it and see it before you truely get it.
coming off a thunderous nz tour alongside drum'n'bass champions concord dawn, minuit are super-charged and ready to bring a swag of shuddering basslines to the uk.
